A new Unscheduled Care service opened its doors on October 4 at Clinique Les Orchidées. It makes it possible to offer a whole new method of local care for the population of the West, in particular that of the municipality of Le Port.
It offers a reception coordinated by private practitioners to take care of, without an appointment during opening hours, ANY patient, adult and child from a very young age, presenting the following pathologies or conditions:
- Trauma emergencies: musculoskeletal injuries (osteo-articular or musculo-tendinous) such as fractures, sprains, wounds, etc., and/or related to sports medicine. Other examples covered: acts of evacuation of abscesses, paronychia and ingrown nails.
- Patients with post-operative complications under this specialty.
It is important to emphasize that this service is not authorized to carry out the activity of emergency medicine and will not be intended to replace it. Streamlining the patient journey, Unscheduled Care provides a specialized care offer that complements other existing unscheduled care reception structures.
The service is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, and without an appointment. Partnerships with clubs and sports committees in the sector will make it possible in particular to monitor athletes and provide care for acute and chronic pathologies.
The new structure is based on:
- the skills of an experienced team made up of: a medical team comprising 5 experienced doctors (more than 15 years of practice and experience in the creation and development of the Unscheduled Care service at Clinique Sainte-Clotilde) with the skills in traumatology and sports medicine necessary. A healthcare team comprising a nurse and a nursing coordinator and administrative manager (medical secretary)
- expertise and access to various specialized technical platforms within the clinic, allowing efficient and coordinated patient care: the Imaging and Radiology Cabinet (radiography, scanner, MRI, Ultrasound), nearby immediate and permanently accessible during the opening hours of the structure the Medical analysis laboratory the various specialists of the Clinique Les Orchidées who provide specialized advice during the time of patient care, in particular the Orthopedic Consultations and Sports Medicine, whose premises are nearby with direct access
- High-performance premises and equipment: The service is made up of a technical platform with 5 traumatology examination rooms, operationally equipped (exploration, trimming, etc.) and is equipped with restraint equipment (plaster) and support wounds (sutures).
The Unscheduled Care department is ideally located on the ground floor of the new Clinique Les Orchidées building with direct access from Avenue Lénine. It is part of the brand new architecture of the establishment, the extension works of which will make it possible, it should be remembered, to bring together all the activities of the Jeanne d'Arc Clinic by 2022. The service thus benefits from modern, spacious premises, accessible to people with reduced mobility and whose design has been studied to minimize environmental impacts (roof and facade insulation, reduction of solar gain, natural ventilation, ceiling fans, solar hot water, air conditioning and lighting performing…). It should be noted that a 254-space car park, including 3 with electric vehicle charging station, has been operational since 2018 to meet the needs of users and staff. This large-scale project, supported by the CLINIFUTUR Health Group and SOFIPAR, benefits the population of the West sector of the island.
The experience of the practitioners of this service, combined with the competence of the specialists of the structure and that of our partners, brings a real gain in efficiency in the care of patients. Our main challenge is to provide a quality medical service to the population of Reunion through secure care and a short waiting time.
