Written in 2014 in Reunion Island under the aegis of the Handidactique association, by and for people with disabilities, with the contribution of healthcare organizations and administrations, the Romain Jacob Charter stands out as a true ethical guide for the access to healthcare for people with disabilities. In this context, it is recognized by the highest national authorities, including that of the President of the Republic, is part of the orientations of public policies carried by numerous laws, and federates more than 7,000 signatories.
The new procedure for the certification of health establishments "Certification of health establishments for the quality of care", commissioned by the High Authority for Health, has also included it as an element of evaluation and as a legal and regulatory reference.
12 main principles are considered, all in favor of better access to common law for all and to care for people living with disabilities: access to care, accessibility, the right to respite, access to employment, help for caregivers or even the unconditionality of daily support...
At the origin of its development in 2014, the Groupe de Santé CLINIFUTUR reaffirmed this Monday, March 21 for all of its health clinics, its commitment to the Romain Jacob Charter, in the presence of Mr. Pascal JACOB and the Handidactic Association. The group fully adheres to its objectives in favor of the social integration and full citizenship of people with disabilities: contributing to support and improving access to care and health for people with disabilities. Aware that health is a fundamental right of the user and that disability can still be a source of questions or even fear and obstacles to care, the group expresses its determination in the service of access to health for people with disabilities, and the coordination and fluidity of health pathways.
Many steps remain to be taken within our establishments with regard to people with disabilities. The group will continue to set up and carry out projects and create new structures to guarantee the safety and quality of care, thanks to the modernization of its establishments, the increase in its care offers or even through works and/or reorganizations that will continue to take place in the years to come.
