Cancer patients in the West of France have the opportunity to access comprehensive, personalised care to improve their quality of life, in conjunction with the cancer drug treatments offered by the Calypso service.
In response to specific needs (pain, fatigue, nutritional problems, social and family difficulties, loss of autonomy, psychological suffering, osteoarticular assessment), Oncological Support Care (SOS) is offered in the form of group workshops (hygienic and dietary advice to help manage the side effects of chemotherapy, a balanced and varied diet, managing emotional state and pain, living better with cancer) or individual follow-up through personalised advice.
SOS services are provided by various professionals from different disciplines: psychologist, social worker, dietician, physiotherapist, acupuncturist, adapted physical activity teacher, nurse, care assistant....
At the same time, comfort, well-being and relaxation treatments provided by the socio-aesthetician and/or a therapist are offered, combining listening to music with breathing an aromatic mixture: music-olfactotherapy, during chemotherapy sessions.
Comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care is provided by a medical team comprising two oncologists, who provide access to innovative therapies such as immunotherapy, oral targeted therapies and early access treatments, as well as a pain specialist, a nutrition specialist and a radiation oncologist. Coordination is ensured with the nursing, medico-technical and administrative teams to ensure a smooth flow of care.
It should be noted that the preparation of chemotherapy at the clinic considerably reduces the time patients have to wait for their treatment to be administered. From diagnosis to treatment, every decision is taken in a multidisciplinary consultation meeting with all the specialists, to ensure that patients receive the best possible care, with appropriate support and emotional care.
The department sees an average of almost 300 patients a month, with a capacity of 19 places in a unit dedicated to cancer drug treatment, representing an average of 3,500 chemotherapy sessions and 500 day hospitalisations for oncology support care. Cancer-related care and treatment are covered at 100% under the long-term care system, with no out-of-pocket expenses for patients.
The Clinique Les Orchidées, part of the CLINIFUTUR healthcare group, is able to meet the healthcare needs of the local population in the western basin affected by cancer by offering a range of healthcare services, in particular through its complementary activities in digestive, urological and breast oncology surgery, which make it one of the largest operators in the west of France, with 113 breast operations
in 2023. Having undergone an in-depth reorganisation, the hospital is improving the health structure of the West zone and has been able to improve care by developing modern, secure, high-tech infrastructures, including a renovated operating theatre with 13 rooms (including 1 for endoscopy and 1 for lithotripsy) for carrying out complex operations. In addition to the quality of care provided, the hospital also guarantees care based on human values and proximity: these are the missions of the medical staff and the teams who support them.
All the medical staff and care teams take great care to ensure the dignity and privacy of each patient and those around them.
This year, pink October is all about well-being !
The practitioner and the socio-aesthetician made a gift for each patient on the ward: a fresh oil-based roll-on with a dilution of
4% dilution of ingredients to be applied to the skin:
- Jojoba, with its moisturising properties, suitable for skin weakened by dryness caused by chemotherapy,
- Locally-grown geranium,
- 3 mints (peppermint, green mint and field mint)...
Throughout the month of October, our teams are mobilised and working at patients' bedsides to raise awareness.
